Tonight Ms. Judy will read us, The Shark who was Afraid of Everything, by Brian James.
In this story we meet a shark who is afraid of everything. That is, until he meets a fish who is also scared. In that moment Sharkie knew he had to be brave for the little fish and that is just what he did. Sharkie was able to overcome his own fears to help someone in need.
Being afraid is normal and healthy. We are all afraid of something, but we are also capable of being brave and processing our emotions in a healthy way. Fear comes from what MIGHT happen not necessarily what WILL happen. Only God knows what will happen so our ultimate trust must be in God. Learning to leave our fears with God may take practice, but ultimately, has the power to free us. John 16:33 says, “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
In this time of fear and uncertainty, may we be brave enough to trust in God’s promises. May we follow Sharkie’s example of overcoming our own fear so that we may comfort and protect others.
