Tonight, Davis will read us, The Bad Seed by Jory John. In this book we hear the story of a seed who behaves badly but winds up changing his perspective on life. By the end of the book, the seed has made some changes and although he still messes up from time to time, he keeps trying to do the right thing!
The story suggests that the seed became bad due to some difficult life circumstances. However, he makes the decision to overcome these life circumstances and realizes he doesn’t have to be a bad seed.
Right now, we may find ourselves in a difficult life circumstance and yet we have the choice to hope for better days. How might we look to Jesus for this hope? How might our relationship with Jesus influence our perspective?
Today, we remember the events of Maundy Thursday. Jesus washes the feet of the disciples and serves them a special meal. Jesus came to offer a new perspective, one of service and sacrifice. Just like the seed, we will continue to fall short because of our own sinfulness, but each day is a new opportunity to strive to be more like Christ- to live faithfully and serve others.
